Sober Solutions Alcohol Rehab in Orange County
Sober Solutions specializes in alcohol use disorder treatment and recovery, with a holistic approach to treatment and care.
Our approach is designed to tackle the most pressing problems first, with medical detox, dual diagnosis treatment, and an approach designed to remove obstacles like lack of motivation or treatment resistance before moving you through to the next step of the treatment. We also leverage evidence-based treatment like behavioral therapy through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
It Starts with Staff
The heart of any good treatment program is its staff, which is why we work to hire the best. Our staff consist of licensed, trained, and experienced nurses, therapists, counselors, and medical doctors. We also specifically look for people who are passionate about helping others, who can provide compassionate care, and who can empathize with and help every patient under our care. That support can mean a world of difference in your treatment, and every member of our staff is dedicated to providing it.
Inpatient Care
Most patients attend our inpatient or residential treatment program at our Southern California alcohol rehab. The facility itself is designed to offer a home-like environment, giving you close connection to peers, doctors, counselors, and therapists, so you can fully immerse in treatment. Inpatient care gives you 8-12 hours per day of immersion in treatment, group therapy, counseling, and one-on-one therapy, mixed with exercise, expeditions into Southern California’s beautiful landscape, exercise, group meals, and leisure activities. That gives you plenty of time to relax and absorb what you’re learning, to make friends, and to engage with every part of your treatment.
Outpatient Care
If you live in Orange County and want to attend an outpatient program, Sober Solutions can help. Here, you attend the same course of therapy, counseling, and treatment but stay at your own home rather than in our rehab facility. In most cases, you’ll receive 2-8 hours of treatment a day depending on the program you choose – giving you plenty of time to continue work, childcare, or other obligations. While outpatient care isn’t right for everyone, it can be as effective as inpatient care, which is why we offer it.
What is Alcohol Rehab Like at Our Orange County Clinic?
If you or a loved one is attending our Orange County alcohol rehab, you’ll probably follow a general process of intake, detox, and then treatment.
However, Sober Solutions uses custom treatment programs, updating our approach to therapy and counseling goals based on individual behavior, needs, and physical or mental health.
Our dual-diagnosis approach means we may focus on treating mental health disorder symptoms that get in the way of treatment before treating cravings, etc.
This means your exact treatment program may vary from what’s listed below.
Intake
From the minute you call us, Sober Solutions will work to get to know you, to assess your mental and physical health, and to build a program based on your needs. That starts with your intake call and sharing medical records, but we’ll follow up with an assessment and potentially medical tests when you get to our clinic. That will allow us to make better decisions for your treatment, by basing recommendations on actual behavior, test results, and medical tests.
Detox Clinic
Our alcohol and drug detox program is located in Orange County, California, where you can stay while withdrawing from alcohol. Here, you receive full medical monitoring, including checkups and assistance from our doctors and nurses. In addition, we’re fully licensed to offer medication assisted treatment, meaning we may recommend you into a program with medications like acamprosate, naltrexone, or disulfiram. These programs reduce withdrawal symptoms and allow you to move into treatment earlier, prevent you from drinking again, and can bolster the effectiveness of treatment in the short term – while you can still benefit from that help. In most cases, the full course of detox takes about 2 weeks without medication.
If you’re not receiving medication to help with alcohol withdrawal, you will receive full medical monitoring with staff on hand to ensure nothing goes wrong.
We’ll also work to make you more comfortable. Here, you can normally expect symptoms to start about 12 hours after your last drink and to escalate over the first 48 hours. Afterwards, you’ll plateau for about 5 days. From there, symptoms should gradually recede, and you will be introduced into counseling and therapy.
Therapy
Sober Solutions uses evidence-based treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to treat alcohol use disorder. Both treatments are shown to have a high rate of efficacy, by helping individuals to overcome trauma, to overcome underlying problems, and to build the habits, behaviors, and processes that will allow you to live a happy and healthy life without alcohol. Here, the exact treatment and approach depends on you. For example, we may focus on ACT or motivational therapy first, we may recommend you into treatment designed to help with mental health disorders, etc.
Counseling
Our licensed therapists specialize in substance use disorders and recovery. You’ll have people on hand to help you work through alcohol cravings, seeking behavior, relationship problems, communication, mental health problems, and other aspects of addiction.
Medication
Our team includes licensed medical doctors with the option to offer prescriptions for medication to help you manage alcohol cravings, to reduce your ability to relapse, and to improve your long-term outcomes. Depending on your mental health and state, that medication may be short-term benzodiazepines to reduce seizures and risk of major complications during withdrawal, Naloxone or other maintenance drugs. However, we will offer these drugs at our discretion, as necessary.
Complimentary Treatment
Substance use disorders occur as part of broader problems. No one drinks to the point of an addiction if they are otherwise completely happy, healthy, and fulfilled. Behavioral therapy and counseling can help you uncover and treat those underlying issues. However, we also deliver complimentary therapy programs to help you build up your coping mechanisms, stress management, emotional regulation, and relationships around that, so that you have the tools not just to get rid of negative behaviors and trauma but also to build a better and happier life for yourself. Complimentary therapy varies a lot but may include meditation, yoga, mindfulness, art programs, nutritional therapy, etc. In addition, we almost always offer family and relationship therapy as part of our treatment.
When you leave our program, we continue to offer aftercare. Whether that’s helping you into a sober home, helping you into a support group like Alcoholics Anonymous or SMART Recovery, or offering long-term counseling and follow up treatment. That aftercare ensures you always have somewhere to go and treatment options.
